Cleaning Ash From Carpet

After you ve vacuumed as much ash as you can out of the carpet it s time to use a clean cloth damped with water on the stained area to remove the ash residue.

Use a vacuum hose in areas along the baseboards for a better reach. Use fireplace vacuum or ash vacuum instead for a lesser chance of spreading the ash. Test your method on a small area first to prevent damage. Let stand at least one hour and then vacuum.

There are soap additives that can be used as well for additional cleaning power. Next use a clean white cloth soaked in dry cleaning solution hydrogen peroxide or rubbing alcohol to lift the remaining soot stain. Dampen the area with water.
