Clean Melted Wax Off Carpet

Get any remaining bits of wax or dye stains out of the rug with a commercial cleaning solution or rubbing alcohol.

If there are still bits stuck to the carpet afterward try gently scrubbing the area with a carpet cleaner fabric cleaner or rubbing alcohol. Chilling the area with ice cubes and scraping the hardened wax will remove most of the wax it may not remove candle wax that the fibers of the carpet have partially absorbed. Don t let the iron get too hot or it could melt the carpet or burn the paper. Using a warm iron slowly press the iron on top of the paper bag or cloth.

Remove the plastic bag and begin to scrape the wax off the carpet using a dull knife. If the plastic or wax still doesn t come off try freezing it with an ice pack and breaking it apart once it s frozen. You ll see that the material will start to absorb the wax and lift it off the carpet. Next lay either a brown paper bag or a clean cloth directly over the affected area of your carpet.

Repeat step number 5 with fresh brown paper or terry cloth until the wax is all gone. Continue ironing until all of the wax is soaked up and clean the area with a carpet solvent. Stop as soon as you begin to see wax seep into the paper. Rub gently to melt and remove some of the wax and then reposition the bag to soak up more wax.

The remaining pieces may budge with a little bit of friction. There is probably still some remaining wax that has now melted so scrape it away with the dull edge of the knife. Heat an iron to a medium setting with no steam and press the iron to the paper bag directly over the wax. The paper should absorb the wax as it melts.

Dampen a white cotton towel fold it in half and place it over the wax. A paper bag over the wax stain. Place the material over the wax. Spread a clean terry cloth or brown paper e g.

You can get this wax out of the carpet by using a clothing iron and a towel or clean white cloth. Repeat until the wax is gone you may have to hold the iron in place for up to 30 seconds. Run a warm iron over the paper or cloth to heat the wax. Place more ice cubes on the spot to harden remaining wax and pry it up with the knife.

Change to a clean paper and repeat until you don t get any more up. Run the iron over the paper keeping it in constant motion. Place a piece of the brown paper bag over the candle wax spill. Now onto the carpet cleaning.
